The meeting will focus on various aspects of discrete and locally compact groups, including (among others): geometry of groups acting on trees, buildings, Gromov-hyperbolic spaces; discrete subgroups of Lie groups; structural properties of locally compact groups; unitary representations; measurable and topological dynamics; different notions of boundaries; dynamics in the space of subgroups. The cohomolgical approach will also be considered, in particular in connection with large scale geometry of groups and with analytic properties such as variants and strengthenings of property (T).
